2013 Resolutions

Recently, Glossybox asked if I would be interested in sharing my New Year’s Resolutions with you and also their subscribers.  In the past, I'd make a mental note, and pretty much after a week, I'd forget about them.  But not this year!

Go on Tour
Chicago

Living in Downtown Chicago the daily hustle and bustle of life takes over from enjoying what the city truly has to offer!  This year, once a quarter, my plan is to explore Chicago like a tourist from the neighborhoods, to museums, restaurants, and local boutiques, I’m going to sample it, take it in, and give you a tour through my lens!

Pattern Up….or Down

Patterns used to seem daunting to me, but the trick is finding the correct size, colour combination, and pairings that work for you.  From scarves, to tops, skirts, and jeans my mission this year is to not be intimidated by patterns.

Colour Me
Some of my favorite glossybox products!
I’d like to work on adding colour within my cosmetics.  I tend to gravitate towards neutrals because I know it works well with my medium/yellow undertone complexion, but why not try a bold lipstick, or eye shadow?  I’ve got nothing to lose!

In the Green

As a fashion blogger, it’s tempting to keep up with the trends.  While I may be a bargain shopper, let’s face it, deals and steals do add up.  While my resolution is to keep up with the trends, if I can’t think beyond creating more than 3 looks with a piece….it’s going back to the rack!

Nail It
It's time to get creative!
I commit the ultimate sin by filing my nails back and forth!  As a result, I’ve suffered from far too many hangnails, old habits die hard!  Healthy nails are a result from properly caring for your hands so my goal is to exfoliate and moisturize more often.  Finally, I’d like to get more creative with my nails from alternating colours, to adding glitter, and trying appliqué designs.

**I was not compensated in any way for this post.**

  5. I'm with you on the trends. I hemmed and hawed over a few things online and finally decided to let it pass and get something classic later. I think you'd look great with bold makeup dear!

  8. These are great resolutions...love the tourist one, I like doing that...plan on doing it again in the spring here :) I'm not much of a trend person, so I never spend any money on those...rarely I do see something I like, but vintage clothes are mega expensive sometimes, so that takes up the bank for me, but I am trying to limit myself this year :) Bold make-up would be lovely on you...I think it's a great idea!! Have a great week xx

  13. If my clip job leaves a point, I too commit the ultimate sin (of filing back and forth). Thanks for letting me know about that. If I'm heading south for a sin, I don't want it to be THAT one. :)

  21. These are fun resolutions - especially the one to be a tourist in your own town! And your resolve to create at least three looks with an item is a thoughtful way to consider the true value of a purchase (not just the $$$$)

    Have a great week ahead!

  31. I really enjoyed that post since your resolutions were not the usual ones but really simple and interesting at the same time. I think simple things are a very good start because when you have achieved all of those then you can make something more difficult.

  49. Great resolutions, especially the tour Chicago one. It is amazing what one can come across being a tourist in its own city, no matter how big or small there's always something yet to be discovered. As far as makeup goes, all it takes is one bright eyeshadow you love to take the next step towards becoming a colour lover ^^ Hope some of my posts inspire you : ) xx
