I invested in my classic pieces years ago! I spent a lot of time looking for a well tailored black blazer that could be worn year round, and a cream lace top that was versatile in style. The one item that I didn't have was a pair of coloured slacks. After months of looking for a red pair that wasn't too tomato red, too xmas red, too brick red.....my Mom picked these up for me. Last week, People Stylewatch placed a photo of Beyonce and Eva wearing bright billowy slacks on Facebook.
Bright slacks, do you like them Billowy or Tailored?

'Billow Tailor' does have a nice ring to it :)

I am in love with that lace top. I would keep it forever!
ReplyDeleteWow! You look amazing! The pop of colour of the slacks is fantastic!
ReplyDelete(I prefer tailored slacks :D)

I think I'd prefer them a bit tailored - love your look :)
ReplyDeleteI love your whole look - the crochet top is gorgeous, the blazer is perfection and the slacks are fun! I prefer a more tailored look for myself, but you are rocking this whole outfit :)
ReplyDeleteBessie, you look stunning in this classic ensemble! The lace blouse is perfection, black blazer- very well fitted and the red slacks, of course is the eye catcher, not to forget the black, timeless Louboutins, the classic Speedy and the Chanel studs! I'm loving it!!!!
ReplyDeleteit sure does! love this top!! so feminine and pretty... and romantic... and fun at the same time. you look absolutely amazing, bessie. :)

Hey Bessie, this is the last time I'll be checking in on your blog for like two weeks while I'm on my break and it's great to see that your outfit is looking as fabulous as usual, I can't work out if I like the business look or the casual look better.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous! Classic! I love them tailored (Bisola), Dammie is definitely billowy.

i like the idea of both! I think there's credentials to each look. such pretty pictures! the wind worked in your favor for sure :)
ReplyDeleteyour lace tank is so cute. I like tailored fit better.
ReplyDeleteLove that lace top! And fabulous blazer. I don't have a preference between the two, but they definitely each need to be on the right body type.
ReplyDeleteI adore your top Bessie & love your Chanel earrings. Every time I go into a boutique to find some like it, they never have any!
ReplyDeleteHave a fab Tuesday Hun xoxo

These are three great investment pieces. I especially love the lace on that top. As for the billow v. tailor debate, I would have to say both: tailored for a more classy look and billowy for more casual occasions. ;)

You're looking über-chic, Bessie! Love the whole look, and that precious top!

ReplyDeleteBillowy.

Love this, so chic and classy! I like mine tailored, mostly because I'm pretty sure I'd look ridiculous in anything billowy. You could pull them off though! :)

Lovely look, love black, white and red, and your top is amazing! :)
ReplyDeleteColored pants I automatically link with spring/summer so billowy is my choice for these 2 seasons when it comes to pants. Your 25 epi looks not too small on you, I stop using mine a while back coz it is too small for my frame.. you must be quite petite!
ReplyDeleteMy new outfit post, come see!

I've said it before and I'll say it again... If only you were my stylist! I'm in love with that lace top, and of course a huge fan of the Speedy - I have one of my own! Keep up the wonderful outfits, lady!
ReplyDeletethats so funny, i was just thinking about my first "investment" blazer (http://vestigialwings.blogspot.com/2012/02/black-and-white-and-coffee.html), and how its black. its not Theory, but it was still more that i ever spent on a blazer before, and i was just regretting how I bought it in black. its just seemed so serious and wearing it with black skirts or pants is so unnecessarily solemn. but I never thought to wear it with bright pants! thats such a good idea.
ReplyDeleteThat top is so pretty! I love the black, white and red palette. Totally classic!
ReplyDeleteRowena @ rolala loves
You look so pretty! I would prefer the billowy style.
ReplyDeletexoxo
Personally, I don't like much of anything to billow around my hips. They don't need any extra padding! lol
ReplyDeleteI love that perfect shade of red on you!!
Lovely!

Very gorgeous. That tank is just gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI love your lacy top...and it's perfect with the red pants!
ReplyDeleteCute pants! That is kind of the perfect red color! I think tailored is a great look for the office or a dressy event, while billowy is better for weekend/more casual wear. Billow Tailor does have a nice ring to it though!

Hi Bessie! Sorry I have been so absent! First of all, let me start by saying that I absolutely, positively love this outfit! The pants fit you perfectly and that blazer is gorgeous. The top adds the right amount of interest and texture. Love it!
ReplyDeleteI prefer my colored pants to be tailored. Billowy looks all wrong on me!
http://theclosetintervention.blogspot.com/
Yep, a star. =) So many different shades of red! I have to share that red belt story soon.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Mom on finding the perfect red pants...love these! Always love the quality of Anthro's lace tops...this one is beautiful! Great classic look in red, white, and black...well done, doll!

I love your shirt and pants! That was such a good find by your mom. :)
ReplyDeleteMy black blazer is a staple piece too. It goes with anything and can be worn all the time. Your outfit is lovely. Those pants totally stole my heart.

U know what the top reminds me of? U know those red silk "lingerie" where Chinese women used to wear in olden days. I love those & that piece instantly struck me as that :) Fabulous & sexy!

I would prefer tailored coz billowy may look like it's too large for me.
ReplyDeleteYou look so much like Lucy Liu in the 2nd picture. I know you get the Lucy Liu thing a lot. =)
Billowy is not my style. I guess in between this 2, I'll go with tailored then.
ReplyDeleteI like your red pants! It definitely brightens you up =)
hi bessie fabulous outfit ur mom did great choosing those pants and i love the lace top. u look gorgeous rocking that red lippie. love to u and the windy city from leonie in the rainy one!! kisses xx leonie.

http://runninginsideus.blogspot.com/
that blazer is an amazing classic piece and will go with everything. i really love that lace top though - it's very flattering and a really pretty lace. and red pants are hard - i always find some of them being too bright or pure x-mas red - the coraly/orange undertones in yours really work well! i had a pair like this, but they were a regular and not petite and i finally gave them to someone who didnt have to cuff 4 inches of them :D
ReplyDeleteWhat a classy outfit. Love it!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment. I'm following you now. Hope you liked my blog and follow me too :)

I love billowy slacks however I have no idea when I will be able to wear it! I do not think billowy slacks are appropriate for work. So for work, I prefer more tailored bottoms.
ReplyDeleteHelen
Hey B, stopping by to see what I've been missing this week! I know this post is about the pants, but can I just comment on the detail of the top?! Beautiful!
ReplyDeletewaiting for your new post...xoxo

love your top more than the slacks to be honest! I don't know about bright slouchy trousers, think they're nicer when they're more tailored and straight or tapered!
ReplyDeletereally really love that top girl!! the crochet is just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love your lace top and the black jacket (corporate style) it goes well with the whole outfit :) xo Marj Travel Experiences: Fashion Travel Blog

Lovely bag! Love it! x
ReplyDeleteBeautiful profile photo in the 2nd shot! I love the colored pants paired with the basics. I would vote either cut, billow or tailored, as long as the proportions are right. We'd agree that Beyonce is no stick, but she's got beautiful curves, yet the billow is perfection on her! I also agree with you that billowy doesn't mean frumpy or big, it still has to flatter and be tailored. Will you be getting billowy colored pants?!
ReplyDeleteI love this outfit. You look great. Have a nice evening. Xoxo V.V.
