This month I did a lot more shopping inside my closet versus in stores! Let me take you back 3 years where I had never stepped foot inside Forever 21. I was under the impression that they carried clothes for the younger crowd, until I saw this ruffle blouse in their window display! I rarely paid attention to window displays back then! It looked like a blouse I had been eyeing from BCBG that was well over $100! Once I stepped inside, I quickly realized that my impression was incorrect! While trying to find this blouse, I browsed the entire store, and found myself waiting to check out with 6 items! The grand total was less than 1 item I would have normally bought on sale from Bloomingdales. A 100% cotton ruffle blouse, fully lined, well constructed, and only $30? Where else would I find anything like it? I knew I'd be back.....many many more times.
Now...I think I'm mildly addicted to that place!

i am a HUGE f21 fan. even more now that i'm older. when it first came around, i was into my charging things i can't afford stage so i only wore designer jeans, etc. now i am THRILLED when i can buy like 5 things instead of the one expensive item i wanted. =)

ReplyDeleteYou look great! I love the ruffled blouse with the patterned pants. I'll admit that I never shop at F21 . . . does the store carry items in "normal" sizes? For some reason, I have the impression that everything in there is size XXS, and I would have no chance of fitting into any of the tops there. I'd be curious to know!
ReplyDeleteKim, I would say the majority of the tops at F21 are cut to standard proportions. Love 21, which is their contemporary line more suitable for office attire is usually 1/2 size larger than their regular line.

There have been times that I just KNEW from a window display that a dress would look fantastic on me. Window displays only tempt me inside if I can sense that it will be fabulous. One of my favorite summer skirts was a white teired item with large floral embroidery at the bottom from Forever 21. Sadly, it somehow got stained and I haven't found a skirt as lovely or comfortable since. :(

Your so right about F21 I loved every piece I picked up from my online order. It was all much better than I expected and fit perfect! I'm sometimes drawn in by the mannequins, I used to work retail tho and dress those things so I know all the tricks they use to get you to come in ;)

Totally adore that ruffle blouse Bessie!!I'm a big fan of F21 too,Bessie, and as I was going through my posts the other day, I realized 90% of my outfits have something from F21. I admit, sometimes I'm so overwhelmed with all those stuff in the store, but if you have the time and patience, you'll end up scoring great deals!! Kim, I just read your comment and I'd like to say that I'm not at all skinny, but still fit into their sizes S or at the most M, so you should definitely give it a try!

Great buys! Yes store displays are always enticing. They are the first thing that attracts me to walk into the store. I love your shimmery pants..the fabric is gorgeous...it adds glamour to your outfit. The ruffle top is lovely...the back design is so unexpected.

ReplyDeleteI'm addicted to F21 too! I thought they just had 'club wear' for young 20 somethings but was pleasantly surprised when I finally went shopping there. Not only is it reasonably priced and cute, it is well made too. Love that ruffle blouse!

As far as first Forever 21 purchases go, this is probably the best I've ever seen. I think mine was a black strapless top with silver stripes.

ReplyDeleteI absolutely love the ruffles on this blouse! I do not know the BCBG one you were eyeing but this top is very Anne Fontaine and a way better price!! I just have not had much luck with these blouses because of my back measurement :( But since it is sort of backless maybe it might work for me. My back is 33 and bust 36/37, waist 25--do you think it might work? But still I prefer this look from the back. The crossed back detailing and red bottoms peeking through are fabulous!
That's a really cute blouse and I love the shiny pants! I can't bring myself to actually purchase anything other than jewelry at Forever 21 and I've even stopped that since it doesn't last.

ReplyDeleteYassss... a mannequin can definitely get me into a store but I try to add a little something to the outfit and not just pull straight from the mannequin because I did that once about 2 years ago and went to a concert with my husband and it was 3 other ladies at the same concert with the EXACT same thing on! It was sort of embarrassing after the 1st lady walk by and said: She got on the same thing as me! :-/

no, I usually ignore shop windows :P Estonian stores are quite boring and overpriced anyway, so that's why I choose thrifting instead of regular shopping when possible.
